DIY Pirate invites

My son's 7th anniversary is coming up and we had long decided that this year the theme is going to be pirates. I love organizing kids parties, it's so much fun! I ended up buying much of the decor  at www.partypieces.co.uk/ because is easier for me then shopping around and it´s not expensive at all. But i just couldn't find the right invites. They all look the same and i wanted something with personality but that wasn't to expensive. So i came up with this idea and i must say i am very pleased with the results! I bought some plain withe A4 paper that is a bit thicker and then printed the party details in a nice fount, i added a pirate logo on the top, burned the edges and then baked the paper in the oven so it looks old. My original idea was to put them in glass bottles but it was expensive, unpractical and probably not very safe for 7 year old's. I decided then to wrap them into a scroll and tie then in pirates eye patches (very cheap in Poundland), the final result is quite cute and the kids loved it.The only thing i would say is that burning 40 sheets of paper is painful, exhausting and very time consuming, but it´s very worth it!
