New year's resolution

A new year is coming and i came to a resolution. I should really stop stressing about what to do next with my life, the world is my oyster after all! Need to get more excited about all the different options in my life instead of worrying about which one is the right one... after all i am still young and doe i have a big responsability in my sholders i know i can do it :) 2013 is going to be MY year!

Dear Santa...

Pancakes? Easy peasy

I'm the baker of the family. Not because i am master but because i love to eat and so i bake as often as i can. On of my specialities are pancakes, they are not very thick nor very thin so everyone loves them! And they are soooo easy to make and they are my favourite before bed snack (i know, bad girl!!!)

Here is the recipe:
One table spoon of sugar
One cup of flour
One medium egg
And about 2 table spoons of butter ( i use salted, it gives them a nice crispy salty flavour)

You will also need a fork to mix
A non sticking frying pan
A spatula
And a tall recipient to mix everything together. ( i use an old soup container as i can just pour directly from there to the frying pan)

Start by mixing the eggs with the sugar and then pour some milk and some flour, intercalating until they are all mixed together. Be careful and don't leave any lumps.

Turn your stove at medium gas and put about a coffee spoon of butter in the pan. When is melted pour about a soup ladle of the mix, spreading it evenly. Wait until is lightly golden and turn. Repeat until you run out of mixture ( about 6 pancakes, depending on the size of your pan)

They are ready to eat :)

My favourite part is topping them, i normally have mine with sliced bananas and nuttela our caster sugar and cinnamon but options are endless!

Tips: you can reheat them in the mornibg, just put them in the microwave for about 1 minute
Kids love to help in the kitchen, so let them mix with you.
Like them a bit thicker? Use self raise flour
Like them more like crepes? Use more milk and leave the sugar out.0
Wanna impress with desert ? Use ice cream and fresh fruits

Bon appetit :)

World prematurity day

Today is world prematuraty day, the special day were we should all raise awerness to this huge problem world wide. Every year, around 15 millions babies are born before time and 1.1 millions dies. There are many reasons why babies come before time and most of them are treatable. Hence why i feel like there is the need to raise more and more awareness to this matter. My daughter came to the world 10 weeks premature and under weight, with only 1700kg and dropping to 1500kg she was in hospital for her first month of life. The hardest of my life! Only when you go trough it you know how bad it is to leave hospital every evening and having to leave my baby alone. Is anti-natural and no mother should have to go trough it. So raise awareness, and if your pregnant check with your doctor, midwife our nurse the signs as most times they are there!

Souvenir from london

This weekend i went to london, and alongside others the Zara home store is a must for me. I had one really close to me home in portugal and i miss it a lot here! This time the kids came along and so i couldn't bring much with me. I had spoted these door knobs in portugal and i fallen in love, but they just didn't fo well with any of my furniture. Now that i repainted my dressing table i've found the perfect home for them :)

Christmas sickness

It's still October and I already had enough of Christmas. I guess working in retail comes with this... You see the collections and tendencies before the general public and festive seasons come early to us. But this year is ridiculous! It was still September and many costumers were already buying and saving for it. Is just too much for me, Christmas was always my favourite time of year and i always looked forward for it but its loosing all meaning. My kids still believe in Santa so hopefully I can still feel some excitement of waiting for midnight with them. Other than that it lost all its sparkle.

DIY weekend

A few weeks ago my sister came to visit and we went looking for a dressing table. I wanted a vintage one that I could paint with a bright yellow our glossy withe but they where all very much out of budget, so I ended up buying a plain withe one. It was ugly and reminded me of the eighties but I could see the potential. Last weekend I felt inspired and went looking for paints and handles. I still didn't find any handle to suit it but I was so happy with the result that I ended up spending a few more pound and changed the whole deco of the bedroom. It's much warmer now and I'll surely spend more time in it :)

My first louboutins!

Yupiee!!! Today is a remarkable day. For some is just as trivial as a bar of chocolate, but for the girl next door, like me, is a dream come true.I am now the proud owner of my first ever pair of Christian Louboutins.I feel like trowing a party! Aren't they the most gorgeous thing ever?!

Cute stickers for my notes :)

DIY Pirate invites

My son's 7th anniversary is coming up and we had long decided that this year the theme is going to be pirates. I love organizing kids parties, it's so much fun! I ended up buying much of the decor  at www.partypieces.co.uk/ because is easier for me then shopping around and it´s not expensive at all. But i just couldn't find the right invites. They all look the same and i wanted something with personality but that wasn't to expensive. So i came up with this idea and i must say i am very pleased with the results! I bought some plain withe A4 paper that is a bit thicker and then printed the party details in a nice fount, i added a pirate logo on the top, burned the edges and then baked the paper in the oven so it looks old. My original idea was to put them in glass bottles but it was expensive, unpractical and probably not very safe for 7 year old's. I decided then to wrap them into a scroll and tie then in pirates eye patches (very cheap in Poundland), the final result is quite cute and the kids loved it.The only thing i would say is that burning 40 sheets of paper is painful, exhausting and very time consuming, but it´s very worth it!

The final look

Prepare to get hands like a mine worker!

Kenzo Jumper Fever

Every now and then a big maison reborns like a fenix from the ashes, this time is was Paris est. KENZO. with the help of  new creative directors  Humberto Leon and Carol Lim and their new fresh style. Their first big hit, that sold out everywhere, was the already famous jumpers. Every hit girl has one, from Rihanna to Chiara Ferragni. The SS 2013 fashion show was today and i can't wait to see what the next big thing is going to be!

Today's show, the print of the clothes matched the screen

"Perfumaholic"

This summer i traveled a lot,for good and not so good reasons. Of course i couldn't stay away from the duty free shops, i mean, 2 hours of wait is just too much and a girl has to keep entertained... But i think i got a bit too excited with the good perfume deals and brought home 5 (ups...) some are great and some not so much... Jimmy Choo was a pleasant surprise, it's woody but somehow is still fresh. love it!
Clinic Happy, i wore this perfume years ago and rediscovered it this year. One of my all time favorites.
Dot by Marc Jacobs, he is no doubt one of my favorite designers and i own every perfume he created, but this has to be my favorite. The bottle is gorgeous and the scent completely addictive. I bought the 100ml less then a month ago and its already one quarters down.
Ch by Carolina Herrera. This one is not one of my favorites. I like more flowery and fruity scents and this one is just too strong. but after smelling 20.000 different fragrances i thing my nose and brain just wore not in sink any more.
Ralph Lauren Romance, i wanted this one for a while and now i own it !
